All About Us
Shares the inspiring story of Celeste Kamuntu and her family's pursuit of education. Celeste begins by referencing Nelson Mandela's quote, "It always seems impossible until it's done," as a guiding principle for her family's life. Her parents fled the Civil War in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the late 1990s, arriving in South Africa with nothing but hope. Despite facing poverty and food scarcity, her parents worked tirelessly to build a life for Celeste and her brother, even finding a way to pay for private school since they were not eligible for public education. Celeste's brother, Hope Joy, achieved the seemingly impossible by studying in the United States and graduating Cum Laude from Texas A&M San Antonio. Inspired by her brother, Celeste focused on her own achievements, including becoming a majorette named Majorette of the Year and being selected for the South African National Youth Choir. She also captained her high school netball team and served as the chairperson of her class, delivering the commencement speech at her high school graduation. Celeste has now been accepted to St. Mary's University in San Antonio and has received a partial scholarship. She is humbly asking for financial support to help her pay for tuition and follow her brother in carrying on her family's legacy. She concludes with a belief that together, they can overcome the impossible and manifest a future of unlimited opportunities.
